Strumhaus was founded in 1999 by Brian Babyok and Scott Hedlund as a way to coordinate their comic book work. At the same time we were working with Barry Linck and his Piffle Productions, but we had always kept them separate. In 2003 we merged Piffle Productions into Strumhaus.

Since it's initial inception it has changed little from the idea of a group of creative people gathered together to share ideas and inspiration.

Currently Strumhaus is;

Brian Babyok
Brian was born and raised on the outskirts of Pittsburgh. His earliest and fondest memories are of buying comics with his grandparents at the corner store. Through out his childhood he created his own comic stories. In 1990 Brian met Tim Aymar and the two pooled their talents. Brian dedicated his abilities to writing and Tim focused on the artwork. The first book that Brian produced was a space opera with Tim Aymar. A series of different books followed including ‘Tainted Blood’, ‘Fairhaven’, ‘Khozyain Protocol’, ‘Pan’, ‘Dark Time’, ‘Good Enough’ I & II, and ‘Phineus: The Glamour’. Many of these works were completed with the close assistance of other Pittsburgh natives Barry Linck, and Scott Hedlund. Brian has also served as primary publisher for the Strumhaus.com studio. Currently Brian is writing the webcomic ‘Weirdlings’ with various artists.

Barry Linck
Barry Linck has been producing and publishing comic books for well over a decade. As writer, artist and creator, he has continued to produce his fan favorite ‘Phineus: Magician for Hire’ and ‘Gil: The Walking Dead (or Vampires Suck)’, a monthly comic strip. Barry served as artist on ‘Khozyain Protocol’, and contributed artwork for ‘The Creators’ and ‘Reverie’. Barry collaborated with Brian Babyok on such titles as ‘Pan’, ‘Phineus: The Glamour’, and ‘Dark Time’ An avid fan of role playing games, Barry co-created ‘Backwaters of Mysticism’ with John Burris. Barry currently is doing the art chores on the webcomic 'Weirdlings' and working on his second volume of ‘Phineus: Magician for Hire’ all while raising a family in Pittsburgh.

Dan Greenwald
Dan was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey in an U.S. Army hospital, a child of two military parents. After their time in the service Dan’s parents relocated to Pittsburgh. Dan has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He was bitten by the comic book bug in 7th grade when I bought his first comic book, ‘Uncanny X-Men’ #207. From there, his interest in drawing grew from a casual activity to a full-blown, youth-altering obsession. Dan filled dozens of sketchbooks in the following years. Dan’s work on ‘Reverie’ represents my first serious foray into small-press comics. Presently, Dan is working with the awe-inspiring Strumhaus Studio on the 3-page story ‘For The Love of a Woman’ for the ‘Reverie’ anthology. Dan is currently working on his comic 'Dead Love'. Dan loves film, music, and photography, and is fond of torturing his wife. eMail Dan

Allan Clifton
Allan has recently returned to his hometown of Pittsburgh, completing an extended East Coast tour of mental hospitals. Although a lifelong comic book fan, he was tragically born with a congenital lack of artistic ability. When Strumhaus rejected him as an illustrator, he filed a lawsuit under the ADA, and obtained sheltered employment as a writer. His literary influences include Robin Masters, Lucian of Samosata, and the anonymous author of The Alphabet Song, without whom none of this would be possible. eMail Allan

Scott Hedlund
Scott was born in St.Marys PA. St.Marys sits squarely on small plateau on the continental divide, high atop the Appalachian Mountains. The view is inspiring and contributed to Scott’s unique vision of the world. It was here, in St Marys, that Scott decided he would be a comic book illustrator. His first work was a 12 year olds retelling of ‘Return of the Jedi’. Scott’s creativity interjected the advertising icons the “Scrubbing Bubbles” as well as the characters from Atari video games. Feeling the winds of change, Scott moved to Pittsburgh where he enjoys Dr. Pepper, M&Ms and last night's pizza. Scott has a fascination with David Lynch movies, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, John Cusack movies, the Sopranos TV series, and the music of Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers. Scott plays the bass, watches DVDs, reads, listen to local bands and eat out all too often.

Marshall Dillon
Marshall was born in a smallish town in northern Michigan. His love for art and writing began at an early age. Often he copied pages from his comic book collection, or made up his own characters. In 1993 he co-founded 'The Creative Comics Coalition', a comic publishing company with three friends and toured around the mid-west displaying their wares at comic conventions. In 1995 he formed 'Scrubland Productions' a comic publishing and licensed apparel company with his future wife Dawn. They toured around the country hitting many more comic conventions than 'The Coalition', and actually gained some notoriety in the underground comics market. Today Marshall is a freelance writer, artist and consultant living in Michigan with his wife Dawn, and their three dogs. eMail Marshall

Susan Patterson
Susan is the manager of the Strumhaus Forum.  She was born in 1971 in a small city in Michigan, where she still lives today.  Susan has been reading comics since she was a kid, where she bought them at the local drug store.  Some of her favorite comic writers/artists include Andi Watson, Tony Millionaire, Neil Gaiman, Chynna Clugston-Major, and Adrian Tomine.  Although not a creator of comics, Susan has attended conventions many years and has always been ready to lend a hand at a friend's booth.  Susan first met the Strumhaus crew while at a convention with mutual friend, and Strumhaus' cinematographer, Noeland Collins.  She is a pop-culture junkie who spends way too much money on books, comics, music, movies and collectibles.  eMail Susan

Timothy Aymar
Born in 1969, Tim is an Aquarian in the Age of Aquarius. He fell in love with comics when they were still 35 cents, and printed on cheap paper no less! He also developed a lifelong fascination with painting and drawing, and developed an awareness of the great masters of fine, commercial, and comics arts. Armed with an associate degree in fine arts, Tim performed inking chores on several comics for earlier incarnations of Strumhaus.com, as well as character designs for many brilliant comics that unfortunately did not come to pass. Tim has immense love for the comic medium, and is intrigued by the possibilities of using comics as a communication medium. Tim also loves comic nostalgia, he pours over the comics of his youth as often as possible. Currently Tim is working with Brian Babyok and working in the field of ‘new-media’. He also spends time doing commissioned portraiture and abstract paintings. Tim is single and enjoys cold showers.
